Marissa Kulig Crow and John Dipollina Headline Nationally Renowned Teaching Facility
(MIDDLEFIELD, Conn.) – Lyman Orchards Golf Club – the year-round gem nestled in between New Haven and Hartford – announces its set to continue its world-class instruction in 2022 under the guidance of LPGA and PGA Professionals, Marissa Kulig Crow and John Dipollina.
The 2022 golf season in Connecticut will begin soon and Lyman Orchards Golf Club is ready to deliver some of the best teaching and instruction in the state.
In 2021, Crow was named LPGA’s National “Teacher of the Year” for demonstrating outstanding accomplishments related to teaching the game and guiding players on their golf journey. Crow was also named a 2021 Golf Range Association of America (GRAA) “Growth of the Game” Top 100 Teaching Professional.
In the same season, Crow’s colleague John Dipollina was named PGA Jr. League #Gamechanger for the third straight year (2019, 2020, 2021) for organizing the seventh largest PGA Jr. League in the country. Like Crow, Dipollina was also named a 2021 GRAA “Growth of the Game” Top 100 Teaching Professional.
“It’s truly remarkable to be surrounded by this much teaching talent at one facility,” says Jason Beffert, general manager of Lyman Orchards Golf Club. “Commitment to growing the game goes far beyond just Marissa and John as well. It is the mission of everyone involved at Lyman Orchards.”
Lyman Orchards employs a staff of eight golf professionals teaching the game year-round. The golf center has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Public Practice Ranges in the U.S. by the GRAA. In season preparation can be performed at their world-class practice area and offseason play happens on their indoor simulators powered by TrackMan technology.
Lyman has been a leader in creating opportunities for women and kids as well. Crow created the “Golf Fore Women” clinic series, helping over 5,000 women since 2013 improve their golf game. The coaches also instruct over 190 PGA Jr. League golfers, 500 junior campers and those aged four through seven in their “Little Acers” program, annually.
“For anyone who wants to learn the game or get better, Lyman has all the tools you need,” says Gary Jalbert, President and CEO of Lyman Orchards. “From our acclaimed teaching services to the variety of ways one can enjoy the game, golf is for everyone at Lyman.”
“We are extremely fortunate to have Marissa, John and our entire professional golf team here at Lyman,” says Executive Vice President, John Lyman. “They are all incredibly gifted and have been helping people excel not only in the game of golf, but in life for years.”
About Lyman Orchards Golf Club
Located in Middlefield, Conn., Lyman Orchards opened in 1969 after Jack Lyman, then President of Lyman Orchards, hired Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the mid-1960s to help transform the business. He envisioned Lyman Orchards as central Connecticut’s premier recreational and family destination anchored by an 18-hole championship golf course. The golf course opened to rave reviews and the Jones Course continues to be one of the best in Connecticut.
In 1994, Lyman opened the Player Course in honor of World Golf Hall of Fame golfer and designer, Gary Player. The cornerstone of Player’s design approach is to create playable and memorable golf courses within the constraints of a given site while being sensitive to the surrounding environment. The Player Course is sprinkled with deciduous trees and classic white pines and rewards well-positioned drives and accurate iron play with 34 bunkers protecting relatively small greens.
In 2012, the Apple Nine opened and was honored by the American Society of Golf Course Architects with its inaugural “Design Excellence” award. Designed by Mark Mungeam, the par-29 course was ranked as the top Par-3 course in Connecticut and 10th overall in New England by New England Golf Monthly magazine.
