Malcolm DeMille Refreshes Tradition with Valero Texas Open
Valero Texas Open challenged Malcolm DeMille to create a new trophy that incorporated aspects of their classic trophy with iconic elements reflective of their host city of San Antonio. Keeping the memorable Texas crystal and Valero flag they added a simplified skyline of San Antonio. The iconic landmarks chosen for this trophy include: The Alamo, San Fernando Cathedral, the Tower of Life, the Tower of the Americas, Frost Tower, Marriott Rivercenter, the Torch of Friendship, and of course the world famous San Antonio River Walk. The sculpture stands atop a three-tiered oak wood base that commemorates past champions of the Valero Texas Open going back to 1922. Keep an eye out for the new Valero Texas Open trophy this week on the PGA Tour at TPC San Antonio. Who will take home this captivating championship trophy!
