Manchester Country Club Selected To Host 2019 NEPGA Section Championship
The New England Professional Golfers’ Association (New England PGA) recently announced the host sites for its Section Championship in 2019. Manchester Country Club in Bedford, New Hampshire was selected as the host site for the 99th playing of the New England PGA Championship, the pinnacle event on the New England PGA calendar scheduled for August 5-7, 2019. The first two rounds of the Section Championship are traditionally played at two courses to accommodate the more than 160 PGA Professionals battling for the crown; the co-host facility is Concord Country Club in Concord, New Hampshire.
Other than the local PGA TOUR events, the New England PGA Championship will boast the largest professional purse in New England next year. 2019 will mark only the third time in the event’s 98-year history that it will visit New Hampshire, and the first time since 2014, when it was played at The Golf Club of New England and Portsmouth Country Club.
“The New England Section is very excited to bring our major championship to New Hampshire in 2019 and to conduct our event at two of the Granite State’s premier facilities is going to be very special for our PGA Professionals,” said New England PGA President, Ron Bibeau, “I am already looking forward to next year.”
Manchester Country Club is an historic Donald Ross-layout. The par-71 course recently underwent a renovation project and played host to the 2017 New Hampshire Open. Co-host Concord Country Club was established in 1930 and is recognized as one of the finest courses in the state.
“This is the first time Manchester Country Club will be hosting the NEPGA Section Championship,”said MCC General Manager, Brian Kelley. “On behalf of our members and staff, we are honored to be one of the selected sites alongside Concord, and we look forward to hosting a professional, competitive and exciting major event for the New England PGA.”
This year’s New England PGA Championship will be contested in late August at Warwick Country Club and Quidnesset Golf Club in Rhode Island.
