ORLANDO, Fla., …Marriott Golf, the Global Golf Division of Marriott International, Inc., announced its 2022 HOPE & MIRACLES award winner as the JW Marriott Camelback Golf Club.
“Serve Our World” is one of the Marriott International core values and guides how the company does business. Through volunteerism, fundraising, cash and in-kind donations, hotels and associates worldwide are impassioned to do well in their communities and make a meaningful positive impact. This award is given to the property which exhibits the highest level of effort, creativity, and production in yearlong fund-raising efforts and provides consistent support of the Marriott Global Golf Division’s charitable partners: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (PLAY YELLOW) and/or PGA H.O.P.E.
The JW Marriott Camelback Golf Club raised over $57,000 through direct and in-kind donations for Phoenix Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (CMN Hospital), in Arizona. The hotel held Hit the Greens contests throughout many weekends during the spring and fall; sold custom TaylorMade Play Yellow golf balls in the golf shop, where a portion of each sale was donated directly to the hospital; and hosted a Play Yellow golf tournament in the month of December for members and local guests.

Play Yellow is a CMN Hospitals program. Launched in 2019 through a partnership with Jack and Barbara Nicklaus and the PGA TOUR, the program seeks to excite the golf industry to fundraise across the country for their local member children’s hospitals. The program was dubbed “Play Yellow” because yellow is a color close to Jack and Barbara’s heart, and has come to symbolize their long-time, enthusiastic support of children’s health.
2023 is an exciting year for Marriott and CMN Hospitals, as it marks the company’s 40 years of partnership. Back in 1983, Bill Marriott and family officially formed a corporate partnership with CMN Hospitals through their first donation of $100,000 in room stays. Since then, Marriott has raised over $148M for CMN Hospitals! Marriott’s Global Golf Division continues to support CMN Hospitals through the development of a yearly Play Yellow campaign with all of properties based in the U.S. and Canada. Each property nominates an individual as their Play Yellow Ambassador, who will represent the property as the expert on Play Yellow and associated campaigns. They are responsible for educating their fellow associates, members, and guests. They also find ways to build new relationships, create awareness, and lead their fundraising activities for their property.
