Mountaintop Destination Resort and Club Welcomes Greg Lecker, PGA to Leadership Staff
(LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.) – McLemore, the destination resort and club located atop Lookout Mountain in Northwest Georgia, announces the appointment of Greg Lecker as its new Director of Golf.
Lecker joins McLemore from Columbia Country Club in Maryland, where he served as the assistant golf professional for over five years. With the new role, Lecker adds McLemore to his impressive golf management resume, which includes stops at Sawgrass Country Club in Florida and the famed Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.
A graduate of Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia, Lecker began his career in golf at Oakmont where he spent four years as an assistant golf professional. He spent the next 18 years as the Director of Golf at Canoe Brook Country Club in New Jersey, where in 2000 the PGA of America honored him as the Private Club National Merchandiser of the Year. In 2011, Lecker moved south to take the same position at Sawgrass CC, and served as the President of the Northern Chapter of the North Florida PGA Section from 2014-2015.
“We are thrilled to welcome Greg to our leadership staff here at McLemore,” says Duane Horton, President of Scenic Land Company, the developer of McLemore “He will bring a wealth of industry knowledge and expertise to his role as Director of Golf, and we’re excited for him to be a part of our growing team as we head into a big year for us as a destination resort and club.”
Situated in the mountains of Northwest Georgia, McLemore’s lifestyle attracts discerning families who prefer to enjoy life “above the clouds.” The club features an 18-hole Bill Bergin / Rees Jones-designed golf course – the Highlands Course – that boasts a finishing hole considered one of the best in the world, and a short course ideal for every golfer.
This past September, McLemore unveiled the name and branding for the club’s second 18-hole golf course, The Keep. Like the Highlands Course, The Keep is a Bill Bergin / Reese Jones design that features stunning vistas and dramatic holes along the eastern side of Lookout Mountain. The course is currently under construction and is expected to open later this year.
One part castle and two parts comfort, the recently opened McLemore clubhouse sits 2,300 feet above sea level and features an elevated dining experience at The Craeg, a pavilion, courtyard and terrace ideal for outdoor gatherings and a fully-stocked pro shop.
Residences at McLemore are next-level, featuring custom-designed homes connecting with spectacular natural beauty and breathtaking views to provide families an opportunity to enjoy living in rustic elegance. The club offers corporate and individual memberships with different categories built within each, and unique member events ranging from culinary to music.
