LAKE PARK, FLORIDA — Phillis Meti won the 2024 World Long Drive Championship on Sunday in Atlanta, marking the fifth time she has earned the biggest prize in women’s professional long drive.
It was Meti’s second WLD Championship in the last three years and her first since switching to JMX Zen Liteswing grips earlier this year.
Meti was ranked No. 2 in the WLD rankings entering the event. She earned the top seed for the bracket-style competition for the final day at Eagles Landing Country Club in Atlanta.
She won her quarterfinals match convincingly, blasting a 339-yard drive, her longest of the event. She won with a drive of 316 yards in the semifinals and a 310-yard drive in the finals to win the championship belt.
Earlier this season, Meti switched to JumboMax Grips to help her increase her swing speed. Her testing revealed that JumboMax grips not only helped her increase her speed, but the larger size of her JMX Zen Lite swing grips (SO) gave her “much more stability through the ball.”
Meti, now 36, has had one of the longest and most successful careers of any long driver. She was the youngest WLD Champion in history (19 years and 3 months) and is the world record holder for a woman’s longest drive (414 yards).
