Sunrise Beach, Mo. — The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Missouri, is hosting the 114th Missouri Amateur Championship June 22 – 27. The week-long tournament will conclude Sunday with the final 36-hole match.
The Club at Porto Cima (pronounced chima) is holding the Championship for the first time. The 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course was rated the No. 4 “Best New Private Courses” by Golf Digest and has been a top-10 course in the state since it’s opening in 2000. The Nicklaus Signature Course is the focal point of The Club at Porto Cima with seven holes that play beside or over the lake. From the black tees, the course plays 7060 yards for a par-72
“The Missouri Golf Association is excited for the opportunity to conduct the 114th Missouri Amateur Championship at The Club at Porto Cima,” said MGA executive director Scott Hovis. “The course offers a fantastic challenge for the players.”
The Amateur features a handful of past champions, including collegiates Nick Westrich (Farmington, 2020), who competes collegiately for Central Missouri and Walker Kesterson (Ashland, 2019), who competes for Missouri. Other past champions competing at Porto Cima include Wayne Fredrick (Springfield, 1996), Tyler Shelton (Fairview, 1994) and Sam Migdal (St. Louis, 2016). The youngest player in the field is 14-year old Jaxon Bailey (Monett). He is one of 38 players in the field under 20-years old.
Two rounds will be conducted Friday and Saturday, respectively, with the semi-final round being held on Saturday afternoon. The final 36-hole match will be held on Sunday.
