Golf Range Association of America announces top accolades for premier Chicago area golf facilities
Bolingbrook, IL – Two of the Chicago area’s premier golf facilities, Mistwood Golf Club and Mistwood Golf Dome report that three awards were recently bestowed upon their family of properties by the Golf Range Association of America (GRAA) annual list. The Performance Center at Mistwood Golf Club was honored as a Top 50 Public Range along with the Mistwood Golf Dome, which was recognized as a Top 50 Stand Alone Range. In addition, Director of Instruction John Platt has been awarded a place on the “Top 100 Growth of the Game Teaching Professional” list.
The GRAA awards are featured in the January 2021 issue annually recognizing practice facilities and teaching professionals who have excelled within the golf industry. “These public facilities introduced the game of golf to a variety of new golfers, while retaining and inspiring current golfers. Through player development programming, customer engagement and community outreach, our 2020 award winners should be proud of their efforts in growing the game,” stated Golf Range Magazine.
“We are proud to be in the company of so many other amazing facilities across the country, where we’re able to provide a first-class experience,” said Andy Mickelson, Director of Golf. “With golfers and consumers wanting more alternative solutions to playing the game, we have made a concerted effort over the years to create a high-level experience with our practice facilities both at the golf course and dome.”
Leading the way with that experience was the installation of the popular Toptracer Range technology into the Mistwood Golf Dome last year. The 60,000-square-foot Dome has been transformed into an innovative and dynamic golf range center where golfers and non-golfers alike will improve and enjoy games utilizing the Toptracer Range technology. This year, Toptracer was installed at the Mistwood Performance Center further elevating the public golf experience.
Both Mistwood golf facilities have consistently received the recognition from the GRAA since 2013 and 2016, respectively, creating one of the premier golf and entertainment experiences in Chicago.
Director of Instruction, John Platt, a former Illinois PGA Teacher of the Year, has been honored with the Growing the Game recognition for the third time. Platt oversees the highly regarded Mistwood Performance Center and the popular “Player Performance Programs” for all levels of players. In addition, his work on the leading junior competitive program in CAP (Committed Athlete Program), has helped many juniors take their game from the high school level to college level.
“To be recognized among all of these great instructors and to have the opportunity to be part of a golf team that had the vision to build out and expand our range facilities creating a pathway for so many new golfers, has been an honor,” said Platt. “I personally want to thank Mistwood Golf Club and give a huge shout out to all my students!”
