New presenting sponsor signals new chapter for PGA TOUR Champions event
DULUTH, GA – Tournament officials are proud to announce a multi-year deal with Vensure Employer Solutions (Vensure) to serve as the tournament’s presenting sponsor. Now known as the Mitsubishi Electric Classic presented by Vensure, the partnership will allow for the tournament to continue to create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere for its players and its fans.
Additionally, the tournament announced that former major champion Stewart Cink, an Atlanta resident, will serve as the tournament’s host. As host, Cink will serve as an ambassador for the event on Tour and in the community with his wife Lisa. He is an eight-time winner on the PGA TOUR, including The Open Championship in 2009, who is entering his first full season of competition on the PGA TOUR Champions.
Tickets for the tournament are now available at www.mitsubishielectricclassic.com/tickets.
“The Mitsubishi Electric Classic features a world-class field of the legends of the game, and we are thrilled to partner with the tournament to further elevate the exciting atmosphere at TPC-Sugarloaf,” said Alex Campos, Chief Executive Officer of Vensure Employer Solutions. “At Vensure, we empower business owners and entrepreneurs with a variety of HR-centric solutions to help them stay focused on growth and better serve their customers. We’re excited to carry that collaborative spirit forward, not only by establishing a tentpole event on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule, but also to engage our local and broader community as well.”
Headquartered in Chandler, Az., with 50 locations across the U.S. and a Southeastern hub in Duluth, Ga., Vensure Employer Solutions is the largest privately held HR technology and services provider in the country, supporting nearly 100,000 small and mid-sized businesses through its innovative solutions and unparalleled services.
The company was named to Inc. 5000’s prestigious Fastest Growing Companies list in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and it was named as one of the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in Atlanta in 2022.
“The Atlanta area has been my home since I arrived as a freshman at Georgia Tech in 1991. My wife Lisa and I are honored to have the opportunity to serve as hosts of an event that has such a positive impact on the community,” said Cink. “The Mitsubishi Electric Classic presented by Vensure is one of the premier stops on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule, and I look forward to welcoming some of the world’s best players to TPC-Sugarloaf in April.”
Cink starred collegiately at Georgia Tech before moving on to the PGA TOUR where he was named PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year in 1997. He is a three-time winner of the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Last season, Cink made four starts on the PGA TOUR Champions, with his best performance coming with a top five finish at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.
In 2017, Cink was awarded the Payne Stewart Award recognizing values of character, charity, and sportsmanship among players on the PGA TOUR.
With Cink coming on board for 2024, his foundation, Cink Charities, will join Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett as the tournament’s official charitable partners for this year. Since 2013, the event has raised more than $4.13 million to benefit area charities through the Gwinnett Championship Foundation, Inc.
“We are proud to welcome Vensure Employer Solutions to the Mitsubishi Electric Classic family of sponsors, knowing their belief in empowering and elevating others aligns well with the experience and impact we strive to have in our community,” said Ashley Hamilton, senior tournament director. “This new partnership will coincide with Stewart Cink, a multiple-time winner on the PGA TOUR, not only making his first appearance in our event but also coming on board as our tournament host. Stewart has done so much for not only the game of golf, but also for his community, and we’re looking forward to him helping us take the tournament into the next chapter in its journey.”
