Miyu Yamashita Rallies from Five Back, Birdies Playoff Hole to Capture Meijer LPGA Classic

June 22, 2026

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Miyu Yamashita delivered a championship performance Sunday at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Giving, firing a scorching 8-under par 64 to erase a five-shot deficit and claim victory for her third LPGA career title.

Yamashita started the final round five strokes off the lead but put together the lowest round of the week at Blythefield Country Club, carding eight birdies to finish regulation at 17-under par. After forcing a playoff, she wasted little time securing the title, birdieing the first extra hole to capture her first win of the season.

“Our whole team has been working hard together throughout the season, and this feels like a result of that effort,” Yamashita said about her victory. “I really wanted to win on this special day. That gave me a little extra motivation out there and helped drive me throughout the round. I am incredibly grateful to my family for all the support they give me every day. This win is just as much for them as it is for me.”

Showcasing the elite ball-striking that has become her trademark, Yamashita hit 10 of 13 fairways and an impressive 17 of 18 greens in regulation during the final round. Relying on a full bag of Srixon and Cleveland Golf equipment, she methodically climbed the leaderboard before completing her comeback in the playoff.

The victory comes after a remarkably consistent start to the year for Yamashita, who had already recorded six top-10 finishes this season. On Sunday, everything clicked. She continues to further establish herself as one of the game’s premier ball-strikers and adds another milestone to her young career.
