Vancouver, BC – Players from Canada’s number one junior golf tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), recently returned from proudly representing their country in Australia’s prestigious Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) International Junior Classic. This major junior golf event, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, saw its 14th appearance by MJT Team Canada, captained by PGA of Canada Professional and MJT Tournament Director, Lee J.H. Lee.
The tournament, held from October 1-4 at the scenic Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club in Hunter Valley, NSW, featured over 500 competitors from around the globe, including participants from Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Philippines, Samoa, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the USA. The event included both team-based and individual competitions, showcasing top-level junior golf talent on an international stage.
In the highly competitive Individual Boys Championship, Josiah Edwards of Perth, Australia, claimed the title with stellar rounds of 69, 68, 76, and 66 for a nine-under total score of 279. North Vancouver’s Anthony Whiting led the Canadian charge with rounds of 78, 76, 76, and 70 (300), earning a tie for 31st place overall.
MJT teammates Grayson Carter (Newton, ON), Sean Kelly (Innisfail, AB), Braden Ahern (Moncton, NB), Carter Banton (Kitchener, ON), Brayden Boge (Winnipeg, MB), Jackson Delaurier (Dauphin, MB), and Edward Li (Markham, ON) also delivered strong performances throughout the tournament.
