Rising Star Returns Home to Lead Northern California’s Premier Public Golf Facility
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Morton Golf is proud to announce the appointment of Sean Woods as the new PGA Head Golf Professional at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, effective May 1, 2026. A familiar face at one of the region’s most storied public golf destinations, Woods returns to Haggin Oaks ready to lead with passion, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to guest excellence.
A graduate of New Mexico State University’s nationally recognized PGA Golf Management Program in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Woods built his professional foundation at some of the country’s finest private clubs. He honed his craft during summer stints at The Valley Club in Hailey, Idaho, and Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, New Jersey, before joining the prestigious Meadow Club in Fairfax, California, where he served first as an intern in 2021 and was promoted to Assistant Golf Professional in 2022 — a role he held through the end of 2024. His return to Haggin Oaks, where his passion for the game first took root, marks the fulfillment of a goal he set years ago.
In his new role, the Association of Golf Merchandiser Certified Retail Manager Woods will oversee all daily golf operations at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, providing leadership across the Pro Shop, Club Repair, Cart Emporium, Tournament Operations, and Player Assistants. He will work in close collaboration with the Coaching, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Range and Marketing departments, carrying forward Morton Golf’s mission to enrich lives one guest at a time.

Woods’ appointment places him among an elite lineage of golf professionals who have shaped the legacy of Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. He becomes just the fourth Head Golf Professional in the facility’s storied history, following in the footsteps of Tom LoPresti, a National PGA Golf Professional of the Year honoree; Ken Morton Sr., also a National PGA Golf Professional of the Year and a transformative leader in growing the game; and Mike Woods, a nationally recognized PGA award winner known for his excellence in golf course operations and work on the Board of Directors with the NCGA. This rare continuity of leadership underscores the tradition of excellence at Haggin Oaks and highlights the significance of Woods’ promotion as he steps into a role defined by decades of innovation, mentorship, and service to the game.
