IRVINE, Calif. – Proto Concept’s C07 irons have been designated MyGolfSpy’s 2022 “Editor’s Choice” for Game Improvement Irons.

“Until Lydia Ko dropped a set of Proto Concept irons in her bag, virtually no one had heard about the upstart Japanese equipment company…If Proto Concept keeps churning about designs like the C07, that will likely change,” MyGolfSpy said on its website.

“Proto Concept is very honored that its C07 game improvement irons have received the “Editor’s Choice” award from MyGolfSpy,” said Yasufumi Kawasaki, Brand Producer of Proto Concept. “Our goal is to make the very best golf clubs so that every golfer can enjoy the game even more.”

LPGA star Lydia Ko, ranked No. 4 in the Rolex Women’s Golf Rankings, plays a C07 6-iron and Proto Concept’s C05 irons in Nos. 7-9. MyGolfSpy ranked the C05 irons its Most Wanted among Player’s Distance Irons for Best Distance.

Earlier this summer, MyGolfSpy recognized the C07 irons as its Most Wanted Game Improvement Irons for 2022, ranking them No. 1 in Forgiveness and No. 2 in Accuracy.

“Proto Concept combines an impressive Forgiveness ranking with a great Accuracy ranking,” according to analysis posted on the MyGolfSpy website. MyGolfSpy, which takes no advertising money from club companies, prides itself on performing objective evaluations and testing of golf equipment. The C07 irons also rated highly in MyGolfSpy’s “looks” category, specifically that it had a great profile and head shaping.

“Proto Concept is very excited that its C07 irons have been recognized by MyGolfSpy as among the Most Wanted Game Improvement Irons for 2022,” Kawasaki said. “MyGolfSpy is an objective source whose aim is to find the best clubs for each player.”

The MyGolfSpy Forgiveness metrics include ball speed consistency, spin consistency, carry consistency and the dispersion area. It seeks to identify clubs with the most consistent results.

Earlier this year, Proto Concept, the new ultra-luxury Japanese golf club designer/manufacturer, placed three of its products in Golf Digest’s 2022 Hot List edition, which was released Jan. 25. It is the first time Proto Concept products have made the Hot List.

Proto Concept is a collaboration between Japanese-owned Golf Partner Japan – the largest golf retailer in the world with some 400 locations – and fellow Japanese golf behemoth Endo Manufacturing, the industry standard in precision club manufacturing that is used by many of the world’s best-known OEMs. Kawasaki also is a managing executive officer of Golf Partner  (www.golfpartnerusa.com).
