Northern California PGA Foundation Reaches “1,000th Veteran Served” Milestone In PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) Program
Backed by Key Fundraising Events, including The Langley and Invest For HOPE Charity Golf Outings, NCPGA Foundation Continues to Support Golf Programming for Military Veterans through One of the Country’s Largest PGA HOPE Initiatives
VACAVILLE, CA, — The Northern California PGA Foundation has announced it has reached the “1,000 Veterans Served” milestone in PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), the Foundation’s military pillar and the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America.
In collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. The PGA HOPE golf sessions, which are offered at NO cost to Veterans by Northern California PGA Professionals, offer an opportunity to learn and play the game of golf, which is a proven activity that has helped thousands of Veterans assimilate back into their community through the social interaction the game provides.
“We are very proud to have now served 1,000 Veterans from our PGA HOPE program,” said Nancy Maul, Executive Director, Northern California PGA Foundation. “Although the program started in 2015 and is one of the largest PGA HOPE initiatives in the country, we have a long way to go as there are more than 377,000 veterans in Northern California receiving medical and mental health services at V.A. Hospitals, clinics and centers. We want to help as many of these Veterans as we can through PGA HOPE programming.”
The growth of PGA HOPE throughout Northern California has been fueled by key annual fundraising events that have driven generous donations which support the Veterans. The 2019 events include the Foundation’s signature fundraising initiative, the 12th Annual The Langley: A Tribute to Legends Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament, sponsored by CIG Insurance Group, which took place August 12th & 13th at Pebble Beach Resorts. This was followed by the 3rd Annual INVEST IN HOPE Event, sponsored by Bank of America and Merrill Lynch, which took place on September 3rd at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, Ca.
Adds Maul, “We are very grateful to our dedicated PGA HOPE-certified PGA Professionals, sponsors, partners, players and other supporters who come together to make both The Langley and INVEST IN HOPE events more successful each year. “The fundraising we drive through the events provide a tremendous opportunity for us to continue serving Veterans and introduce the vast therapeutic benefits the game of golf provides.”
