CARLSBAD, Calif. – Nippon Shaft won its second PGA Tour event in the last two weeks Sunday (July 31) and recorded its sixth win on global tours over the same time span.
The 32-year-old three-time U.S. Ryder Cupper from Salt Lake City won his second consecutive PGA Tour event when he shot a tournament record total of 26-under par at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. He used N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour120 TX flex steel shafts in his irons and N.S.PRO MODUS³ Wedge 125 in his wedges to shoot a 262 total with rounds of 64-66-65-67 at Detroit Golf Club.
The champion led the event with 66 of 72 greens in regulation enroute to his fourth PGA Tour career victory, his third in the last year. Last week, he won the 3M Open outside Minneapolis. He earned $1.512 million for the Rocket Mortgage win, giving him a total of $2.862 million in winnings over the last two weeks.
