Naperville, Ill. – Naperville Country Club in Naperville, Ill. has broken ground on a $2.7 million clubhouse renovation project. Steven Weiss of Weiss Architecture in Chicago is the architect behind the renovation, which will focus on updating all food and beverage spaces inside the clubhouse, including a newly designed kitchen, dining rooms, renovated locker rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, new flooring and fixtures. Bulley & Andrews construction firm is the contractor and have estimated a late April 2022 completion date.
Naperville Country Club members voted on and approved the clubhouse renovation project in July 2021. The club, which is currently celebrating its 100-year anniversary, is making the first significant enhancements to the clubhouse in more than 40 years. According to club records, the current clubhouse was constructed in 1949, after fire destroyed the original clubhouse (built in 1927) in February of 1948. At least three renovations and expansions have taken place since. Once complete, the newly renovated interior will feature sleek and modern décor where members can enjoy and welcome-in the next century at Naperville Country Club.
“For years we have had one of the best golf courses in the area, but the clubhouse was dated and not up to the same standard,” said Mark Schulz, Club President. “This renovation will bring the clubhouse facilities up to par!”
When the club opened in 1921, 122 charter members paid $100 dollars apiece to become a member, along with $25 for annual dues. Today, the club, located in the Chicago suburbs, is quickly approaching a waitlist on memberships for the first time in 20-plus years.
Naperville Country Club is a private, member-owned club, managed by Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon. In addition to award-winning golf, Naperville Country Club provides a full array of dining, social and special event programming for the entire family. The club’s patio and restaurant are popular with members providing a place to relax and unwind, and have the best view in town.

About Naperville Country Club
Naperville Country Club continues to be a social hub for the community, providing a place where members can connect with others, enjoy family-friendly activities and events, while experiencing a variety of club amenities. In 1921, the club featured a 9-hole golf course with sand greens. Shortly after opening, golf course architect Tom Bendelow was engaged to design and build an 18-hole golf course on the 124-acre property. Bendelow’s original layout remained mostly intact until 2006 when architect Steve Forrest of Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest & Associates was commissioned to complete a major course renovation. Emphasis was placed on adding length to the golf course, improving shot values and developing new green complexes. The new Steve Forrest-designed course debuted in July 2007 and winds its way through rolling terrain, mature trees and ponds. The course has earned several national honors, including being named Golf Inc. magazine’s 2009 “Renovation of the Year” for private clubs.
