ACCLAIMED NASHVILLE COACH VIRGIL HERRING To Appear on Golf Channel’s ‘Morning Drive’
Accomplished PGA Teaching Professional Virgil Herring, a five-time Middle Tennessee Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year and two-time Tennessee Section PGA Teacher of the Year, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Wednesday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Dec. 1.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. ET on Wednesday and from 7:30-9:30 a.m. ET on Saturday.
On Wednesday’s show, Herring will be breaking down Tiger Woods’ past and present swings, and will be addressing some of the changes Woods made in 2018 when he rose from 656th place in the Official World Golf Ranking at the start of the year to 13th following his win at the TOUR Championship.
The Director of Golf at the Ensworth School and Performance Center in Nashville, Tenn., Herring is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including PGA Tour Champions Learning Center and School of Golf; Herring is making his fourth appearance on Morning Drive.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be on Morning Drive once again,” said Herring. “If they had an award for Comeback Player of the Year in 2018, Tiger certainly would’ve won it. Considering that he just started chipping balls again 15 months ago, it’s one of the most remarkable comebacks the game has ever seen.”
A member of Futures Champions Golf’s inaugural 2017 class of Top 25 Master Coaches—the highest honor for USA elite junior golf coaching—Herring has taught more than 150 NCAA scholarship recipients. His current and former students also include several PGA Tour and Web.com Tour players, including nine-time PGA Tour winner Brandt Snedeker and Garrett Willis.
Herring is also the host of Talking Golf with Virgil Herring radio show on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville, and is author of The Golf Journal: Improving Your Game, a statistical-based journal that helps you identify where you are losing strokes on the course and then provides a game plan to get those strokes back.
