Seventy-Six of 81 Teams That Competed In NCAA D1 Regional Championships Used StrackaLine Greens Guides
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — StrackaLine’s industry leading Greens Guides have become an integral part of the game, and the prevalence of their usage is on full display in the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship.
Seventy-six of the 81 teams that competed in the NCAA DI Regionals this week used StrackaLine Greens Guides, including 28 of the 30 teams that advanced to the NCAA Championship, which will be held May 24-29 at the Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
“The stakes are so high in the collegiate game and players are often competing on new courses, which only enhances the importance of our greens guides providing data that is accurate down to the millimeter,” said Jim Stracka, president of StrackaLine. “StrackaLine is delighted to be providing the nation’s best collegiate teams with our greens guides, and we are gratified by the success they are enjoying.”
StrackaLine provides its Greens Guides to more than 300 Division I college teams. To produce its greens guides, StrackaLine sends a 3-D laser scanner to a course and scans each green, collecting millions of data points that allow the company to create topographical maps that provide information on slope percentage and direction.
StrackaLine worked in conjunction with the USGA to ensure its greens guides were in compliance with the governing body’s new interpretation of Rule 4.3, allowing the
company to continue to providing its best-in-the-game greens maps to professionals and amateurs.
The quality and accuracy of StrackaLine’s greens guides have led to widespread adoption on the PGA, LPGA, Symetra and Web.com tours.
StrackaLine scans courses for $1,500 and that includes 100 greens guides for resale. The scanning process takes five hours to complete and is unobtrusive to the golfer experience.
StrackaLine now has 900+ courses scanned, including some of the nation’s most prominent layouts. Use of the greens guides at all levels of the game has surged, and the company now counts nearly every Division I golf program among its users.
The greens maps, which feature easy to read arrows, allow players to view contour and fall lines, in addition to slope percentage, anywhere on the green.
