A New Wedge Designed to Make Choosing Simple

September 3, 2026

Soft Stainless Steel Delivers Both Rust Resistance and a Soft Feel

A Simplified Design Guides Golfers to the Right Wedge

HONMA GOLF CO., LTD. will launch the new HONMA WEDGE, featuring a soft stainless-steel material, at authorized retailers and directly on the official HONMA website. As wedge selection has become increasingly complex, HONMA introduces a new value proposition: a wedge that is simple to choose, helping more golfers find the right club for their game.

The new HONMA WEDGE uses a soft stainless-steel material that combines rust resistance with a soft feel. Even with an unplated finish, it maintains long-lasting performance, eliminating concerns about rust while delivering stable spin performance over time. It also challenges the conventional perception that stainless steel feels hard at impact, providing a soft sensation similar to carbon steel. Its feel has also been highly rated in testing by TEAM HONMA.

To simplify wedge selection, the bounce options have been narrowed to two clearly differentiated choices: 8° and 16° for the AW and SW, and 4° and 16° for the LW. This makes the differences easy to understand intuitively and enables golfers to select the appropriate wedge with confidence.

By introducing the new value of “easy to choose,” HONMA WEDGE helps golfers improve both precision and confidence in the short game.

KEY FEATURES

  1. HMSS Soft Stainless Steel

HONMA’s proprietary HMSS (HONMA Soft Stainless) material combines rust resistance with a soft feel. Even with raw finish, it maintains long-lasting performance, reducing concerns about rust while delivering stable spin performance over time. It also overcomes the conventional perception that stainless steel feels hard, producing a soft sensation similar to carbon steel.

  1. Two Distinct Bounce Options

HONMA has rethought increasingly complex wedge selection caused by the proliferation of grind options. The lineup is simplified to two bounce choices: 8° and 16° for the AW and SW, and 4° and 16° for the LW. The clear contrast makes the effect of bounce easy to feel and helps golfers select the right model without confusion.

  1. Dedicated AW Design

The AW is designed as a natural extension of the iron set. Iron-style scorelines and a semi-cavity construction improve distance consistency on full shots.

  1. Shaft Weight Designed to Flow Naturally from the Irons

A shaft in the 105 g weight class is fitted as standard, creating a natural weight progression from the irons and reducing any sense of discontinuity between clubs.

WEDGE FITTING

The simple two-bounce concept enables an efficient wedge fitting process that helps golfers identify their optimal setup in a short time. Rather than being overwhelmed by technical knowledge or numerous choices, golfers can hit the wedges, intuitively feel the differences, and easily select the most suitable option.
