West Caldwell, NJ, — The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) today announced that several high-profile New Jersey companies have teamed with the prestigious tournament, which takes place at historic Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, N.J., from October 6-10. Saint Barnabas Medical Center has been named as the Official Health Care Provider for the 2021 Cognizant Founders Cup, while Richards Manufacturing and Donnelly Construction will serve as the Par Tee in Pink Sponsors, offering a special ticket package to complement a line-up of on-site activations on Saturday, October 9thin support of breast cancer awareness.
Olympic Gold Medalist and the world’s #1 ranked women’s golfer, Nelly Korda, will headline a 132-player field for the 2021 LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup (www.thefounderslpga.com), a week-long event in Northern NJ where competitors will compete for a $3 million purse, the largest purse for an LPGA Tour event outside the majors and the CME Group Tour Championship. The tournament, which debuted in 2011, pays tribute to the 13 founding members of the LPGA, including surviving founders Marlene Bauer Hagge and Shirley Spork.
Saint Barnabas Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, and part of the most comprehensive academic health care system in New Jersey, will serve as the Official Health Care Provider of the event, providing all onsite first aid needs. Saint Barnabas Medical Center will have branded breast cancer awareness signage on-course, where players and fans will be invited to sign a canvas to show their support for the disease. Moreover, Healthcare Heroes from Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the entire RWJBarnabas Health system will be recognized during tournament week, with a commemorative poster signed by LPGA TOUR players competing in the field, as well fans who are invited to sign and salute the heroes.
Additionally, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month the LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup has teamed up with Richards Manufacturing and Donnelly Construction for a ParTee in Pink! Patrons are invited to grab their favorite pink shirt and enjoy a fun filled Saturday on October 9th with the ParTee in Pink package. For $100, attendees receive access to the Tees & Greens hospitality area, including snack, lunch, water and soft drinks; Commemorative Pink Rally Towel; Commemorative ParTee in Pink bracelet and $10 from each ticket will go to local charities. In addition to tournament play, Saturday’s line-up of interactive activities includes the LPGA Lesson Zone from 9am – 1pm, and a special appearance from LPGA Hall of Famer, Nancy Lopez.
The Cognizant Founders Cup joins a long list of prominent events to be held at Mountain Ridge Country Club, including: the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship in 2012; the Metropolitan Golf Association Open Championship in 1985, 1996, 2000 and 2020; the MGA’s Ike Stroke-Play Championship in 2007; the New Jersey PGA Section Championship in 1962, 1990, 2007, 2009 and 2017; and the French American Challenge in 1997. The Ross-designed and highly regarded course opened in 1931 and has varied little in 90 years. It is known for wide fairways and deceptive greens. A recent restoration has brought many of Ross’s characteristic run-off areas back to their original closely mowed state.
The ParTee in Pink package (Saturday, October 9th), individual tickets and week-long ticket packages for the Cognizant Founders Cup can be purchased at www.thefounderslpga.com.
