Update: New Jersey Golf Foundation’s 2022 Annual Golf Classic
Miriam Hernandez-Kakol, Senior Partner at KPMG Honored as 2021 Chairman’s Award Recipient
The NJGF Golf Classic – hosted at Baltusrol Golf Club on Monday, August 9th – raised more than $200,000 to support dynamic golf programming for youth, military Veterans and individuals with special needs.
Bedminster, N.J., – The New Jersey Golf Foundation (NJGF), the charitable arm of the New Jersey Section, PGA of America (NJPGA), today announced that the 15th Annual NJGF Golf Classic – hosted at Baltusrol Golf Club on Monday, August 9th – raised more than $200,000 to support dynamic golf programming for youth, military Veterans and individuals with special needs.
The NJGF Golf Classic is the signature fundraising event on the Foundation’s annual calendar and the Chairman’s Award is given annually to an individual who works tirelessly behind the scenes to support NJGF programs and initiatives. Miriam Hernandez-Kakol, Senior Partner at KPMG in Short Hills, who served as a long time Board member for the NJGF, was honored as the 2021 Chairman’s Award Recipient. Hernandez-Kakol continues to be an active supporter of the Foundation.
As a global head of KPMG’s Management Consulting business, Miriam plays a significant, strategic role leading a team of more than 24,000 partners and professionals to build and execute its strategy, to deploy client facing global priority solutions, and to maintain the business’ double-digit growth momentum. For the past three years, Miriam has been featured as one of ALPFA’s (Association of Latino Professionals for America) and Fortune’s 50 most powerful Latinas. Miriam gives of her time by volunteering to enhance education and career opportunities for women, Latinx professionals, and students. Miriam also serves on the Board of Directors for HITEC, an organization dedicated to advancing Latinx talent into leadership roles in the technology industry, also she serves as the Co-Chair of the STEM committee for the National Academy Foundation.
The NJGF was created in 2004 to positively impact lives and communities through the game of golf, with a focus on 3 core pillars: youth, military, and special needs. Under the guidance of PGA Professionals, programming is designed to provide individuals from all backgrounds with an opportunity to experience the game of golf in a welcoming environment. Through a wide range of programming, the NJGF champions a commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) with the goal of evolving the composition of the game of golf to better reflect the broad array of differences in our society at large.

Programming that benefits from the NJGF Golf Classic, includes Golf In Schools; PGA Junior League; Boys & Girls Clubs; Special Olympics NJ; Els for Autism; Military: PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) and the golf program at Rutgers University that supports student military Veterans as they transition into civilian life, among others.
