NFL Alumni Announces Expansion of Golf Initiatives Benefiting Members and Chapters

NFL Alumni is partnering with a group of leading golf companies and executives to expand the number of golf events and services to the more than 4,500 former players, coaches, officials, cheerleaders and associates that comprise its membership. Joining the NFLA in this initiative is Great Golf Resorts of the World Inc. (publisher of PGA Magazine), Buffalo Groupe, LLC, Joe Steranka, former CEO of the PGA of America, and former PGA Director of Diversity, Earnie Ellison.

“Golf has become an important social, health and business activity for thousands of NFL Alumni members,” said Beasley Reece, CEO, NFL Alumni. “This led us to seek a dedicated network of golf experts to help us grow the number and quality of golf experiences for our membership including the Super Bowl of Golf, a new event around the NFL Draft and a new alliance with local PGA Professionals in our 36 Alumni Association chapters.”

Among the initiatives planned are:

  • NFLA Super Bowl of Golf: This 40-year-old golf championship will include media partners, sponsors and will expand the field vying for Super Bowl of Golf Championship Rings at Pinehurst Resort, April 29-May 2, 2020.
  • NFL Alumni/NFL Draft Pro Am: The inaugural event will feature teams of amateur golfers captained by NFL Alumni representing each NFL team. The event will be during NFL Draft week in Las Vegas.
  • NFL Alumni Golf Professionals Program: A new program will be formed to introduce members to the sport, improve their skills and prepare them for competitive golf events at the chapter and national level.

“We are honored to partner with the NFL Alumni to grow the number of its members playing golf at the recreation and competitive level,” said Rick Summers, founder, Great Golf Resorts of the World. “These men and women have been part of some of the most memorable moments in sports and we are excited to better connect them with the golf industry.”

Additional details on the upcoming NFL Alumni golf initiatives will be released in upcoming weeks. Any immediate questions can be sent to golf@nflalumni.org.
