Former NFL Player Jimbo Covert, PGA Tour Pro Billy Hurley Wins 25th Anniversary Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am

The team led by former NFL player Jimbo Covert and PGA Tour player Billy Hurley won a scorecard playoff to break a four-way tie and capture the 25th anniversary Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am on a sun-drenched Dye Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf.

Teams captained by Covert and Hurley, Paige Spiranac and Dave Ross, Matt NeSmith and Edwin McCain, and Mark Bryan and Brendon Todd finished the 18-hole event tied at -15 under 57.

On a cloudless, 70-degree day, a sold-out crowd of 6,000 fans packed the Dye Course to watch some of their favorite athletes, actors and musicians compete in an event that has raised more than $7.2 million for charity.

Among the headliners were basketball legend Rick Barry, Grant Fuhr, one of hockey’s all-time greats, and former NFL All-Pro Ed “Too Tall” Jones. ESPN personality Mike Golic Sr. and former Philadelphia Eagles star Seth Joyner also helped lead the contingent of athletes in the event.

Legendary jazz musician Branford Marsalis, Grammy-winner Dan Tyminski, and the guys from Hootie & the Blowfish – Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, Darius Rucker, and Jim Sonefeld – headlined the high-profile musicians who played.

PGA Championship winner and former Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III, two-time major champion John Daly, and Wesley Bryan, who won the RBC Heritage in 2017, were among the most prominent professional golfers in the tournament.

The event was played on Barefoot Resort’s Dye Course for the 17th consecutive year.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which supports the educational needs of children in South Carolina and the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation through a fully funded endowment.
