2019 NGBA/Golf Headquarters Annual Meeting and Show
National Golf Buyers Association members and its vendor partners gathered at the Dallas Rockwall Hilton Lakefront hotel October 7th-9th 2019 for the annual NGBA / Golf Headquarters Corporation Meeting and Order Writing Show.
The group’s membership relished the annual Monday Marketing and Best Practices seminar and were treated to a deep dive into a retail operations presentation by Paul Erickson of Management One. His “Six Essential Elements for a Winning Independent Retail Strategy” and his very enlightening “The Psychology of Price” were topics of conversation amongst the members during the entire show.
The Monday night welcome reception featured live a performance by nationally recorded country artists Courtney Patton and Jason Eady and provided members and vendor partners a great chance to enjoy great food and beverages and reconnect under the lakefront pergola.
On Tuesday morning, the members gathered for the annual Corporation Meeting where new members Mark Fern of Ultimate Golf in Chicago, Mark Clavey of Chicago Bill’s and Bill Collins of Pro Golf Tupelo Mississippi were introduced and warmly welcomed.
The NGBA Corporate team reviewed the member show specials packet and program book containing several new vendor partner additions. It also included a complimentary copy of “Little Book of Big Golf Promotions”, authored by Board of Director member Ken Morton Jr. of Haggin Oaks.
Members headed into the show hall Tuesday and Wednesday where they met with over 40 exhibiting vendor partners sales staff, and marketing managers. NGBA vendor partner exhibitors offer the group an NGBA member specific program as well as promotional show specials and there were many good buys.
On Wednesday morning the members were invited to a member only Round Table discussion about the first day of the show and exchanged opinions regarding the most impactful products and platforms they discovered. This breakout yielded valuable feedback and ideas and strongly reinforced that members all benefit when utilizing each other’s talent and experience.
Members then headed back into the show hall to take advantage of the products and buys mentioned during this session, and the NGBA corporate team circled back with vendors to pursue product requests that were mentioned. The meeting and show wrapped up Wednesday afternoon to very positive member and vendor reviews and excitement about the upcoming year and many commitments to reconnect at the January 2020 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL.
