CARLSBAD, Calif. – Both the PGA and LPGA players on the winning team at the Grant Thornton Invitational relied on Nippon Shaft steel shafts to win wire-to-wire (Dec. 15) in Naples, Florida.
The 25-year-old former LPGA Tour rookie of the year and winner of the Honda LPGA Thailand on Feb. 25 competed with N.S.PRO 950GH steel shafts in her irons and N.S.PRO MODUS³ WEDGE115 steel shafts in her wedges.
Her 30-year-old PGA Tour partner – who won the PGA Tour’s Mexico Open, also on Feb. 25 of this year – used N.S.PRO MODUS³ WEDGE steel shafts in his wedges.
The pair – both UCLA alums – combined to shoot a 54-hole total of 27-under par—189 at Tiburon Golf Club, good enough for a one-stroke victory and a winner’s check of $1 million, which they split evenly.
Meanwhile, the winner of the Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School also relied on Nippon Shaft to help him to the winner’s circle.
The 36-year-old Californian used N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 130 steel shafts in his irons and the N.S.PRO MODUS³ WEDGE 125 steel shafts in his wedges to shoot 67-72-69-63—271 at Dye’s Valley Course in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
“Nippon Shaft is elated that three players who use our steel shafts were able to win the Grant Thornton Invitational and the Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “Nippon Shaft strives to make shafts for accomplished players of all kinds, including amateurs, and we are proud when they use them to accomplish their goals.”
