CARLSBAD, Calif. – On the strength of five back-nine birdies, the 43-year-old JGTO veteran came back to win the Casio World Open by one stroke, using N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 130 X steel shafts in his irons.
It was the champion’s second victory of the season and his seventh overall on the Japan Golf Tour. He shot a 14-under par total 66-67-73-68—274 at Kochi Kuroshiro Country Club in Geisei, Kochi, Japan.
On the Japan LPGA Tour, the 21-year-old winner of the JLPGA Tour Championship Ricoh Cup used N.S. PRO 850GH steel shafts in her irons and N.S. PRO 950GH steel shafts in her wedges to fashion her victory in the season finale. She shot a 12-under par total 276 with rounds of 66-69-69-72 to defeat an elite field of just 40 players, 60 percent of whom used Nippon Shaft products during the tournament.
Meanwhile, another 21-year-old Japanese woman used N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 in her irons and wedges to win the JLPGA Tour’s season long points race. She finished with 3,744 points, well ahead of the runner up, and earned y265,730,016 ($1.73 million).
