CARLSBAD, Calif. – Players using Nippon Shaft products won on four major tours over the weekend ending June 23 – a women’s major championship along with titles on the PGA, Korn Ferry and Japan Golf Tours.
The winner of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship used N.S. PRO 950GH neo steel shafts in her irons and wedges to secure her first major championship and earn her third opportunity to represent her native South Korea in the Olympics, Aug. 7-10 in Paris. The 34-year-old LPGA veteran shot 7-under par at Sahalee Country Club outside Seattle to win by three and earn $1.56 million for her sixth LPGA victory.
On the PGA Tour, the world’s No. 1 golfer used Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility iron enroute to winning the Travelers Championship in Connecticut on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. The 28-year-old Texan, who will represent the United States at the Olympics, shot 22-under par in regulation play with rounds of 65-64-64-64—258. He won with a two-putt par on the first hole of the two-man playoff. He collected $3.6 million of the $20 million purse in the last of this season’s eight PGA Tour mega-buck “Signature” events. It was his sixth PGA Tour victory before the month of July, a feat not accomplished since Arnold Palmer did it in 1962.
The Korn Ferry Tour’s Compliance Solution’s Championship took place at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma, where the 25-year-old New Jersey native and Florida State alum used N.S. PRO MODUS³ Tour 125 steel shafts in his irons to shoot 23-under par and win by three. The two-time U.S. Walker Cup team member earned $180,000 and jumped to ninth on the circuit’s points list; the top 30 earn PGA Tour cards at the end of the season.
And at the Japan Players Championship on the Japan Golf Tour, long time Nippon Shaft user played an N.S. PROMODUS³ Prototype in his irons and wedges for his 19th professional victory, his first since November 2022 and 14 years from his first win as a teenager.
“Nippon Shaft congratulates all four of these players on their incredible accomplishments,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “A first-time women’s major champion, a first-time winner on the Korn Ferry Tour and a sixth-time winner in this year alone all used our products to achieve these important career milestones, and we are extremely happy for them.”
More than 200 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and Korn Ferry Tour use Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series steel shafts to help gain their desired distance, accuracy, and trajectory.
