American wins for the first time in more than a half-century

CARLSBAD, Calif.  – A 32-year-old PGA Tour winner used Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS³ TOUR120 steel shafts in his irons to become the first American in 53 years to win the Open de France.

The Champion, who is ranked 64th in the world, secured his first DP World Tour victory with an up-and-down out of a greenside bunker on the par-3 18th hole – sinking a 16-foot par putt – to give him a final round 6-under par 65 and a 16-under par total for the event at Saint-Nom-La-Breteche in Paris.

It was the champion’s first win in Europe and his first on any major tour since winning the 2018 John Deere Classic. He earned $552,500 for his Parisian victory.

“Nippon Shaft is thrilled to be part of an American victory on the DP World Tour,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We congratulate him on having an excellent year on the PGA Tour and of his special victory in Paris.”

More than 300 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and Korn Ferry Tour use Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series steel shafts to help gain their desired distance, accuracy, and trajectory.

Nippon Shaft products are available globally either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands.  Details of these can be found at www.nipponshaft.com

Based in Yokohama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia.  Nippon Shaft is a privately held subsidiary of NHK Spring Co. LTD, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer.  Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Carlsbad.
