NIPPON SHAFT PLAYER EARNS KF WIN IN COLUMBUS
Nippon Shaft Prevails at Scottish Senior Open
Twelve weeks after winning his first Korn Ferry Tour event outside Chicago, the 23-year-old from the University of Texas did it again – and received a winner’s check worth $180,000.
Using a Nippon Shaft N.S.PRO MODUS³ PROTO in his driving iron, the 6-foot 3-inch golfer posted a two-shot victory over a fellow Longhorn at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship at the Ohio State Golf Club’s Scarlet Course in Columbus.
The champion shot a 12-under par total with rounds of 70-68-67-67—272 on the 7,444-yard par 71 course. In addition to the two victories, he had seven other top 10 finishes this season and is No. 1 on the Korn Ferry Tour money list as well as the points list.
Already exempt for the PGA Tour next season, the champion can earn full playing privileges on the “big” Tour – meaning he is eligible to get in any regular Tour event he wants to play – if he can finish No. 1 on the Korn Ferry Tour in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile the winner of the 1999 Open Championship won the Scottish Seniors Open using N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 X-flex steel shafts in his irons and wedges. Playing in just his third event on the Staysure Tour, the native Scotsman shot a 2-under par total of 211 in the 54-hole tournament with rounds of 68-72-71 at the Craigielaw GC in Longniddry, UK-Scotland. He earned €40,834 ($45,000) for the victory.
