CARLSBAD, Calif. – One month after defending his title at the Phoenix Open, the 26-year-old Texan used Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility iron Sunday (March 12) to win the prestigious Players Championship.
His dominating 5-shot victory elevated him to World No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and padded his already healthy bank account with a $4.5 million dollar winner’s check from the event’s massive $25 million purse. He finished at 17-under par with rounds of 68-69-65-69—271 and has now won six times in his last 27 starts.
“Nippon Shaft is very excited that the winner of the Players Championship trusts our N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft to help him get optimum performance from his utility iron,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “Nippon Shaft’s breakthrough hybrid technology in shaft design combines the best qualities of steel and graphite so that tour-level players and everyday golfers can get the best out of their abilities.”
More than 200 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and Korn Ferry Tour use Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series steel shafts to help gain their desired distance, accuracy, and trajectory.
