CARLSBAD, Calif. – The 61-year-old Spaniard used N.S.PRO MODUS³ TOUR 105 steel shafts in his irons and wedges to win the Hoag Classic Sunday (March 23) on PGA Tour Champions.
It was the 15th victory on the U.S. senior circuit for the pony-tailed ace, who shot 15-under par with rounds of 67-64-67—198 at Newport Beach Country Club in Newport Beach, California and took home a $300,000 winner’s check. It was his second victory of the young season – he previously won the Trophy Hassan II in Morrocco – and moved him to the top of the Charles Schwab Cup points list.
“Nippon Shaft congratulates the winner of the Hoag Classic, who has used our products throughout his incredibly successful career on PGA Tour Champions,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “His win-rate of nearly eight percent (among players with at least 10 wins) on a tour with a steady influx of young players deserves recognition.”
Nippon Shaft products are available globally either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands. In addition, Nippon Shaft products are available through Nippon Shaft’s dedicated global club fitter network. Details of these can be found at www.nipponshaft.com.
Based in Yokohama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia. Nippon Shaft is a privately-held subsidiary of NHK Spring Co. LTD, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer. Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Carlsbad.
