NIPPON SHAFT WINS VALSPAR CHAMPIONSHIP
Nippon Shaft’s steel shafts played a key role in Sunday’s repeat victory by the 41-year-old Englishman, who became the first player to successfully defend his title at the Valspar Championship on the Copperhead course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida.
The three-time PGA Tour winner played Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 TX-flex steel shafts in his irons and N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 X-flex in wedges, shooting an 8-under par total of 276 with rounds of 70-66-68-72 to win by one stroke.
The victor collected a winner’s check of $1.2 million while improving his world golf ranking to 11th and moving to fourth on the PGA Tour’s FedExCup points list.
It was the 161st worldwide professional victory for the MODUS³ shaft series and the seventh MODUS³ victory in the 2018-19 season.
“Sunday’s winner of the Valspar Championship has been using Nippon Shaft products for many years now and, needless to say, we are thrilled with his victory at Innisbrook,” said Hiro Fukuda, marketing and sales for Nippon Shaft. “He already has three top three finishes this year on the PGA Tour and we wish him continued success.”
