CARLSBAD, Calif. – Players using Nippon Shaft products won on both the PGA and LPGA Tours on Sunday (March 30).
On the PGA Tour, a 26-year-old Australian won the Texas Children’s Houston Open using N.S.PRO MODUS³ TOUR125 steel shafts in his irons and N.S.PRO MODUS³ TOUR120 steels shafts in his wedges, holding off the world’s No. 1 player and a former U.S. Open champion to win by a stroke. The champion shot a 20-under par total with rounds of 66-64-63-67—260 at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston to notch his first PGA Tour victory and earn $1.710 million. He has won several times on the DP World Tour. He will be a contestant at Augusta next week.
On the LPGA Tour, a 29-year-old South Korean used the N.S.PRO 750GH neo steel shafts in her irons and the N.S.PRO 950GH steel shafts in her wedges to win with a birdie on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. She stuck her approach shot to six feet and drained the putt for the win at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Arizona. Her 22-under par total in regulation included rounds of 69-66-67-64—266. Her seventh LPGA Tour victory came with a winner’s check of $337,500.
