CARLSBAD, Calif. – The world’s No. 1 golfer used Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his 3 and 4 utility irons enroute to winning his second consecutive Players Championship and back-to-back PGA Tour events.
The 27-year-old Texan, who won last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, shot 20-under par with rounds of 67-69-68-64—268 and stood five shots behind the leader as his final round began. The first player to successfully defend his Players Championship title in the 50-year history of the tournament earned $4.5 million of the event’s $25 million purse.
“Nippon Shaft congratulates the world’ No. 1 player on his exciting come-from-behind victory at the Players Championship,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We are proud that he is using our N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility irons because he believes they give him the best chance to win at TPC Sawgrass, one of the Tour’s most challenging golf courses.
