Northern California PGA Celebrates 100th Anniversary
Birth of the Association was Heralded as an Important Step in the Advancement of Golf in the Region; Today, the NCPGA Boasts over 1,100 Dedicated PGA Member Professionals and Associates at over 400 Golf Facilities in Northern California and Northwestern Nevada
VACAVILLE, Calif., — The Northern California Section of the PGA of America (NCPGA) today celebrates the 100thAnniversary of the Association, which was established on February 20, 1920, and heralded as an important step in the advancement of golf in the region. Today, the NCPGA, which is one of the forty-one designated Sections of the PGA of America, boasts over 1,100 dedicated PGA Member Professionals and Associates at over 400 golf facilities in Northern California and Northwestern Nevada who continue to positively impact the game and communities it serves.
“February 20th is an extremely proud day for the members of the Northern California PGA,” said Len Dumas, PGA, Executive Director, Northern California PGA. “100 years ago our founders had a vision for the game of golf throughout Northern California and Northwestern Nevada. Today, that vision continues to be realized as our dedicated members represent the best of their profession and maintain an unwavering commitment to serving golfers and facilities across the region.”
Dumas adds, “While we have several events planned in 2020 to celebrate our milestone, I can’t think of better way to commemorate the 100thAnniversary of the NCPGA than to host the PGA Championship, one of golf’s four major championships, at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, from May 11th -17th. The PGA Championship features the strongest field in golf, including 20 PGA Club Professionals, and we are thrilled the eyes of the golf world will be on Northern California during our Centennial.”
NCPGA Section President and San Francisco native Dede Moriarty, PGA, states: “Together in 2020, we celebrate the rich history of our Association’s PGA Championship coming to San Francisco, along with 100 years of incredible accomplishments from our Section PGA Member Professionals and Associates, both past and present. What an exciting time this is for golf in Northern California.”
