West Caldwell, NJ, – Golf and soccer fans have an opportunity to experience a double dose of women’s professional sports as the LPGA, the world’s leading professional golf organization for women, and NJ/NY Gotham FC, the only women’s professional soccer team in NJ today announced a partnership highlighted by a dual-ticket package.
Families can pay one price and enjoy a 2021 Gotham FC game at Red Bull Arena along with a one-day general admission ticket to the 2021 LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup, taking place October 6th-10th at historic Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, N.J.
For $50, sports fans will receive a sideline seat at Red Bull Arena, and a general admission ticket to the Cognizant Founders Cup where the world’s best professional golfers will be competing for a $3 million purse, making it the largest LPGA Tour event outside the majors and the CME Group Tour Championship.
Currently sitting in 3rd place in the NWSL standings, Gotham FC is led by the iconic Carli Lloyd, who is back with the team after scoring 2 goals to help the USA women’s soccer team capture a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
NJ/NY Gotham FC was a 2021 Challenge Cup Championship finalist and has only recorded three losses in thirteen regular season matches this season.
“Partnering with the LPGA is a perfect way to further Gotham FC’s mission of raising the profile and visibility of women’s sports,” said Yael Averbuch West, Interim General Manager, NJ/NY Gotham FC. “We’re excited to welcome new fans to both sports as we showcase the talent of these extraordinary athletes.”
Fresh off her Olympic Gold Medal, Nelly Korda, the #1 ranked player in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, headlines an elite field at The Cognizant Founders Cup. The tournament, which debuted in 2011, pays tribute to the 13 founding members of the LPGA, including surviving founders Marlene Bauer Hagge and Shirley Spork. This year marks the inaugural year with N.J.-based Cognizant (Nasdaq:CTSH), one of the world’s leading professional services companies, as title sponsor. Led by Korda, the 132-player field is expected to be filled with the Tour’s most talented and accomplished players.
“This partnership is an exciting collaboration that showcases some of the greatest and most accomplished professional athletes in their respective sports,” said Scott Wood, Tournament Director, LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup. “In addition to delivering the ultimate in family entertainment at two world class venues, the opportunity to see these incredible female athletes compete at the highest level will inspire the next generation to dream big.”
