BUFFALO, NY — Last year, OnCore Golf became the first-ever corporate sponsor of one of the most exclusive and elite golf clubs in existence, the Nomads. The Nomads are a group of successful African-American men who are in love with the game of golf. The group was formed seventy years ago in 1950 and their story is a fascinating one that is particularly relevant today. The history and story of the Nomads was documented in a piece that CBS’s 60 Minutes show aired several years back. That story and their inspirational message is now going to be replayed on CBS Sports on June 13th at 1:30 pm EDT. “I am excited to see their story get the recognition it deserves and so proud of the relationship OnCore Golf has established with the wonderful men of the Nomads,” said Nasser Sutherland, OnCore brand ambassador.
Following last year’s event at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club in Whistler, British Columbia, OnCore Golf offered to host the Nomads in 2020 for a few days of experiencing the people, activities, and attractions available in Western New York including Niagara Falls, before heading to their golf outing at Turning Stone in Syracuse, NY. “Unfortunately, with a global pandemic, this year’s event had to be canceled and while this is disappointing, we hope to see them here next year,” said OnCore cofounder Bret Blakely.
Dr. Kevin Smith, Director of the Nomads, added: “We thank OnCore Golf for being the Nomads first sponsor and look forward to a wonderful relationship for years to come. We hope golfers everywhere will have a chance to tune in on the 13th and learn more about our organization.”
