Platform provides event professionals with innovative information-packed tool
NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – Former USGA championship operations director Frank Bussey has launched the Operationally Speaking™ Event Planner, a web-based platform that allows event professionals to enter key assumptions, compare planning scenarios and see how each choice affects space requirements, estimated total cost, cost per guest and operational guidance long before an event begins.
Available at www.operationallyspeaking.org, the platform is designed for event professionals, venues and organizations that need to evaluate the operational and financial consequences of planning decisions while time allows to adjust plans.
During his career, Bussey planned and executed some of golf’s most complex championship operations, managing temporary facilities, tenting, site infrastructure, transportation, parking, vendors, staffing and budgets. That experience showed him how closely these decisions are connected—and how one untested assumption can affect an entire event plan.
The Operationally Speaking™ Event Planner brings Bussey’s scenario-based approach to a broader range of events, helping planners examine how operational choices interact before space, money or resources are committed.
Users begin by entering assumptions such as attendance, available space, tenting, flooring, food and beverage, restrooms, security and transportation. These inputs may be adjusted to compare scenarios and see how each change affects required space, estimated total cost, cost per guest and planning guidance.
For example, a planner can increase projected attendance and immediately evaluate how that change affects tenting, restrooms, transportation, space and estimated cost—helping identify tradeoffs before contracts are signed or resources are committed.
Users can create and name multiple event plans, save them and return later to revise assumptions as attendance forecasts, site conditions, budgets and other event requirements evolve.
“The most important operational decisions are usually made long before an event begins,” Bussey said. “Many problems start with assumptions that were never fully tested. The Planner gives event professionals a practical way to ask ‘what if?’ and understand the consequences before they commit money, space or resources.”
Unlike a static checklist, the Event Planner shows how one operational decision can affect the event. When users change attendance, space requirements, costs or other assumptions, the plan updates with them, making it easier to compare alternatives, spot potential conflicts and refine the event before resources are committed.
The Event Planner represents the first commercial software offering under the Operationally Speaking™ brand and builds on the principles Bussey developed throughout his professional career and documented in his book, Operationally Speaking, An Event Operations Guide.
Bussey chose the Event Planner as the brand’s first software launch because it gives event professionals, venues and organizations a ready-to-use framework for applying disciplined operational thinking—without having to build a planning system from scratch.
The redesigned Operationally Speaking™ website places the Event Planner at the center of the platform, with screenshots, a video demonstration and direct access to the tool. Visitors can also learn about Bussey’s book, Operationally Speaking, An Event Operations Guide, and the company’s additional event solutions.
