Industry-leading speed training has positioned Harrington as one of game’s top drivers
TULSA, OK – SuperSpeed brand ambassador Padraig Harrington captured another title on the PGA TOUR Champions, holding off late challengers during the Simmons Bank Championship at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock, Ar.
Harrington used a 5-under-67 third round, including a birdie on the 531-yard 18th hole where he flashed a 318-yard drive, to claim his third victory on the PGA TOUR Champions of the calendar year. He finished the tournament leading in driving distance averaging 326.5 yards as well as ranked 13th in accuracy. The Irishman vaulted the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs standings, earning double points with his 67-65-67 scorecard to move from 11th to fourth, placing him in prime position for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in less than two weeks.
Harrington has incorporated SuperSpeed’s swing speed training products and programs into his routine for almost 10 years, enabling him to gain speed and add distance to his game at 53 years old. He currently leads in driving distance on the PGA TOUR Champions at 306.8 yards off the tee after leading the tour last season
“Padraig has really embraced SuperSpeed Golf’s technology and approach to training, incorporating it into his already impressive exercise regimen that has played a role in elevating his game,” said Michael Napoleon, President of SuperSpeed Golf. “He was able to sustain this season’s successes from the tee box during the Simmons Bank, and his latest victory is yet another testament to the hard work he’s put in on strengthening his game.”
“I’ve tried to keep my speed up to compete with the young guys, so it’s an advantage when I come out here, for sure,” Harrington said Sunday.
“Yeah, it’s nice to have that advantage, it’s nice, I know I can get at a few more pins than other guys, but you’ve still got to hole the putts and hit the shots.”
In total, Harrington has tallied 41 professional victories, won three major titles, reached a highest Official World Golf Ranking of No. 3, and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame earlier this year. In recent years, he has made speed training and overall strength a priority for his continued improvement. At 53, he has reached the fastest swing speed of his professional career, emerging as one of the longest hitters on PGA TOUR Champions with ball speeds regularly reaching more than 180 mph.
