Monterey, Calif. – The Club at Pasadera is proud to welcome Will Pickering as the club’s new general manager. Pickering will oversee all elements of the private club located in Monterey, Calif., including the facility’s 18-hole golf course, F&B venues, member and guest service, as well as associate training and development.
An inspiring leader with 16-plus years of hospitality industry experience, Pickering most recently served as general manager of VillaSport Athletic Club and Spa in San Jose, Calif. where he led 300 employees and oversaw multiple facets of the business, including spa operations, food and beverage, fitness, aquatics, childcare and events.
Throughout his career, Pickering has demonstrated a commitment to lifelong learning, and a passion for investing in people. He possesses a relentless focus on improving the member experience through a team culture in which every club associate is responsible for the entire product, not just his or her department. Two of Pickering’s first priorities will be to build a robust programming calendar of member events, and to communicate regularly with members to share updates, short-term and long-term plans, and get-to-know-the-staff highlights.
“The opportunity to serve the members and staff at Pasadera is a dream come true for my family and me,” said Pickering. “Moving to the Monterey Peninsula, leading such a prestigious club, and caring for this loyal membership is a real privilege and I cannot wait to get started.”
Pickering has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, Calif., and a Master of Arts degree in Sport Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill. Originally from San Diego, Calif., Pickering is married to wife Jeannine, and they have two children, Kai and Makena.
“Ownership and Troon are thrilled with Will steering the effort going forward,” said Troon Senior Vice President of Operations Bill O’Brien. “His passion for quality, teambuilding, training and putting the culture of the team and members first, align with the club’s long-term objectives to create a special place where members, their guests and employees can be the best version of themselves.”
