HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Sea Pines Resort has named Patrick O’Keefe as the new Director of Tennis. He replaces Job de Boer who retired in June after 30 years.
“Patrick is an energetic, highly motivated person with a stellar understanding of teaching and playing the game,” said Director of Sports Operations John Farrell. “He was a student and instructor here at Sea Pines’ Smith Stearns Academy and we look forward to benefitting from his love of the sport.”
O’Keefe previously served as Director of Tennis at Hidden Valley Country Club in Salem, Virginia, and as a coach to notable college-bound junior players at the Smith Stearns Tennis Academy. He holds a degree in Business and Marketing from Radford University (Virginia) where he was a four-year varsity athlete, the 2015 Big South Player of the Year, and a two-time All Big-South First Team Player.
In his new role, O’Keefe will be responsible for overseeing all tennis operations, including lessons, clinics, tournaments, and camps.
“I’m extremely excited and honored to serve as the Director of Tennis for The Sea Pines Resort,” O’Keefe said, “and to lead this storied program into the future.”
The Sea Pines Resort’s Racquet Club, its 20 outdoor clay courts, lessons, clinics, and academy comprise the region’s #1 tennis resort. Stan Smith, a former U.S. Open and Wimbledon Champion and 2000 U.S. Olympic Men’s Coach, has served as The Sea Pines Resort’s touring professional and ambassador for 50 years. He has developed a world-class program for players of all ages and skill levels, including The Smith Stearns Tennis Academy, one of the nation’s top tennis programs where students achieve a well-rounded lifestyle in preparation for success in all areas of life.
