TROON AND TROON-MANAGED FACILITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY RAISING FUNDS FOR FOLDS OF HONOR FOUNDATION DURING PATRIOT GOLF DAYS
Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon®, the leader in club management, development, and marketing, and many of its managed golf facilities across the country are proud to support the 13th annual Patriot Golf Days, a joint initiative of The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association. Golfers playing Troon facilities throughout September and October will be raising funds to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation through various golf tournaments, on-course competitions and playing opportunities. In addition, during the campaign period, Troon will be donating 100 percent of net proceeds to Folds of Honor from all apparel, accessory and gift item purchases made on TroonShop.com. The mission of Folds of Honor is to provide post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled in the line of duty.
Over the past three years, Troon-managed facilities throughout the United States have raised more than $160,000 for the Folds of Honor Foundation through Patriot Golf Days activities. Since its inception in 2007, PGA Professionals have helped raise millions of dollars through Patriot Golf Day events, allowing Folds of Honor to award educational scholarships. Patriot Golf Days allows the Folds of Honor Foundation to present an ongoing tribute to the brave service members by ensuring that the families of fallen and wounded warriors have hope for the right educational start to life and best future possible.
“Troon, along with many of our managed-facilities, are proud to be a part of Patriot Golf Days,” said Mike Ryan, chief operating officer, Troon. “We are thrilled that so many of our facilities are participating this year as this an incredible opportunity for the golf community to give back to the families of those who have given so much through their brave service and sacrifice.”
The Patriot Golf Days campaign follows Troon and Team Troon Ambassador Gary Woodland presenting a $5,000 donation to the Folds of Honor Chicagoland Chapter. The presentation took place prior to the PGA TOUR’s BMW Championship at Medinah Country Club and is equal to one Folds of Honor educational scholarship that will be awarded to a spouse and/or child of a wounded or fallen service member. Woodland recently recorded a video in support of Troon’s Patriot Golf Days efforts – www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tgwl4kTW_A.

About Patriot Golf Day
Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 fighter pilot, PGA Professional and USGA member, came up with the concept of Patriot Golf Day and founded the Folds of Honor Foundation in 2007, following his second of three tours of duty in Iraq. After returning from his second tour, Major Rooney witnessed a profound display of a family’s grief as they welcomed home the remains of Corporal Brock Bucklin. Inspired by this tragic homecoming of a fallen American solider, Rooney started the Folds of Honor Foundation to provide support to military families in the aftermath of their tragedies.
