Golf Weather Impact: Daily double! April GPH and March Utilization both solidly up
As the northern climes open their ’21 season, most were greeted by healthy Golf Playable Hours (GPH) gains vs. Year-Ago (YA) as the national figure advanced 9% compared to April ’20. That nearly erased the Q1 deficit with the Year-to-Date figure now registering -2% (from nearly double-digit down at the end of March).
Played Rounds for March, as published by Golf Datatech, were an eye-popping +45% for the month but we have to remember that’s against widespread COVID lockdowns Month 1 in ’20. The added benefit is that the rounds favorability came against basically flat weather reported last month (+1%) so we got a double-digit Utilization gain of 25 points marking our 10th consecutive month of beating the weather, wow!
A broader description of the April results can be found at our website in the Featured Items section or you can get the full picture by subscribing to either the Pellucid Publications Membership or the Geographic Weather Impact report. Both provide the 45 regional breakdowns, the 61 markets figures, the day-of-week weather impact and the Year-End National GPH forecast figure as well as our full commentary on the results every month.
For facility owner/operators, now that you have your April YtD results, it would be an opportune time to participate in the Golf Market Research Center (GMRC) pilot program which runs, no-cost, no-obligation, until 5/31. The GMRC gives you visibility to your Market Profile and, after you enter your Rounds, Golf Revenue and Peak Season GF Rate by month, to immediately see your results through our comparative reports with integrated weather impact. So how do you “get in on the action”? Glad you asked…
