OMEGA AMBASSADORS RORY MCILROY, SERGIO GARCIA AND TOMMY FLEETWOOD OPEN PGA CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK IN ST. LOUIS WITH UNIQUE VIEW OF HISTORIC GATEWAY ARCH NATIONAL PARK

The golfers attempted a 100-yard shot at Historical Landmark commemorating the 100th PGA Championship

OMEGA, Official Patron of the PGA Championship, and its Ambassadors Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood, celebrated the start of the 100th PGA Championship today by surprising unsuspecting bystanders with a 100-yard, golf-shot at the base of the famous Gateway Arch National Park.

The trio each attempted shots from the shadows of the Gateway Arch National Park to see whose accuracy was dialed in from a tee positioned 100-yards away from the target – a traditional pin flag, which was placed under the Arch.

“Today was a really unique and enjoyable day being here in St. Louis and hitting golf shots in such an exceptional setting,” said Sergio Garcia. “The PGA Championship is very special, and I’m glad we get to celebrate the event with such an impressive start to the week.”

“The PGA Championship holds a special place in my heart, and today I was excited to see OMEGA coordinate this thrilling way to celebrate 100 years of the tournament,” said Rory McIlroy. “This iconic setting made for competitive fun with both Sergio and Tommy.”

“I’m new to the OMEGA family, but I’m definitely excited about my future with the brand after participating in this great event today,” said Tommy Fleetwood. “OMEGA knows how to honor something the correct way and we had a lot of fun out there competing in today’s challenge.”

The 2018 PGA Championship, held Aug. 6-12, is one of the most anticipated golf events on the calendar. The greatest golfers in the world will all compete for the Wanamaker Trophy this week at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis.

McIlroy, an OMEGA Ambassador since 2013, won the 2012 PGA Championship in Kiawah Island, S.C. and the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla in Louisville, Ky. Garcia, an OMEGA Ambassador since 2003, finished second at the 1999 PGA Championship and has recorded numerous professional wins including The Masters in 2017. Fleetwood has finished second at the U.S. Open, tied for 12th at The Open Championship and tied for 17th at the Masters, in this, his first year as an OMEGA Ambassador.
