Award is part of numerous accolades received in 2018

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (June 4, 2018) – PGA Golf Club – the PGA of America’s premier 54-hole facility – was honored as the first organization to receive the Economic Development Council (EDC) of St. Lucie County’s Leadership Recognition Award.

The award recognizes the club’s contributions in St. Lucie County since it was established in 1996. According to the EDC, PGA Golf Club has employed 2,500 local people, attracted countless visitors and new residents, and invested more than $58 million in capital in St. Lucie County.

PGA Golf Club representatives received the award at the EDC’s 6th Annual leadership dinner last month.

“It is not really possible to evenly assess the contributions of one individual against the contributions of an entire organization, particularly over the course of years,” says EDC President Pete Tesch. “The PGA has been a driver of our economic vitality since they came to St. Lucie.”

“We are truly honored and humbled that the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County bestowed us the first-ever Leadership Recognition Award to an organization,” adds Jimmy Terry, PGA Golf Club General Manager. “St. Lucie County is not only a wonderful place to work, the community thrives as a place to live and play.”

The EDC recognition continues a string of awards and accolades for PGA Golf Club in 2018:

• PGA Head Golf Professional Holly Taylor was recently named the Merchandiser of the Year in the Resort Category by the Southeast Chapter of the South Florida PGA Section.

• The Association of Golf Merchandisers recognized PGA Golf Club’s golf shop with its Platinum Award.

• PGA Golf Club’s Taplow Pub was named among the best eateries on the Treasure Coast by Indian River Magazine.

• The Golf Range Association of America named the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance a “Top 50 Range” for the 17th consecutive year.

Known as the “Ultimate Golf Resort Destination,” PGA Golf Club is home to 54 holes of championship golf. The entertaining layouts were designed by renowned architects Tom Fazio and Pete Dye.

Getting There: PGA Golf Club is less than a two-hour drive from Orlando and Miami – and under three hours from Tampa, Fort Myers and other Florida population centers. PGA Golf Club is conveniently located 50 minutes north of Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), off Interstate 95 in Port St. Lucie. PBI offers nearly 100 nonstop flights to more than 25 cities in the U.S. and Canada.
