PGA OF AMERICA NAMES KEVIN J. SCOTT AS ITS FIRST CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

FRISCO, Texas – The PGA of America has promoted Kevin J. Scott to be the Association’s first-ever Chief Technology Officer.

Scott previously served as Head of Technology, leading the design and launch of the PGA’s consumer digital products – PGA.com and PGA Coach. He also transformed the technology and digital units into one customer-centric, product-minded organization of top engineers, designers, and product managers. In support of PGA Professionals, the Ryder Cup and all of the PGA’s championship events, he led the design and build of e-commerce, ticketing, scoring, customer relationship management, digital marketing, hospitality, ERP, data warehouse, websites and mobile apps.

The PGA of America is now entirely cloud native, enabling a more collaborative and productive workforce. Rather than maintaining traditional IT systems, the company’s technology investments are now focused on creating valuable products and digital experiences. This led to significant cost savings for infrastructure, operations and computing. Scott’s technology team also modernized the Association’s websites, apps, learning management systems and omni-channel marketing services.

While shifting to the cloud computing model, the PGA assumed a world-class security and technology posture under Scott’s watch. As a result, the PGA of America was named a 2021 FutureEdge 50 Award honoree by CIO magazine, which recognizes organizations using new technologies to advance their business through simplification, modernization and security, while using the most contemporary methodologies and technologies.

“Kevin Scott successfully steered the PGA through a technology transformation over the last five years,” said PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh. “He will now lead us in deepening our understanding of the PGA Member through technology, providing a scale of services to our 41 PGA Sections, increasing the value of our Championships, connecting consumers to our PGA Professionals and supporting the modernization of our PGA Professional career development. We’re in an exciting time where technology is no longer just a support for our business but rather a driver of how we operate, how we think, and how we serve our PGA Members and the game of golf.”

A 1997 Electrical Engineering graduate of the University of Arizona, Scott previously was Vice President of Product Management and UX for WorkplaceDynamics in Philadelphia.

He spent four years at ESPN as Senior Director of both Mobile Products and Innovation & Advanced Products, where he led the development of ESPN’s Android mobile apps, as well as the creation of next-generation interactive, social media, television and digital products.

“It is a tremendous honor to serve as the first Chief Technology Officer of the PGA of America,” said Scott, who is based at the new home of the PGA of America in Frisco, Texas. “The PGA has an outstanding Technology organization that uses continuous improvement, customer focus and product thinking to elevate the Association to new heights. The digital transformation at the PGA, including our products and technical infrastructure, has been deeply impactful.”

Scott also spent 11 years at Nokia, where he became Director of Product Innovation and Customer UX. He began his career at Raytheon in Tucson, Arizona, where he was a software engineer and team lead in radar and RF algorithm design.

Scott has been a member of the Board of Directors for South Florida Tech Hub and the North Texas-based Tech Titans.
