Brentwood, Tenn., – Replaceable spikes continued their dominant start to the 2026 season with victories across the game’s leading professional tours, including two more wins on the PGA TOUR, extending the streak to nine consecutive PGA TOUR events won by players wearing replaceable spikes.
The latest victories came at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Puerto Rico Open, reinforcing the continued preference for replaceable traction among the game’s best players.
At Bay Hill, the PGA TOUR winner competed in TravisMathew shoes fitted with Metal Stinger spikes, continuing the strong run of success for replaceable traction in one of the season’s most prestigious events. The leaderboard again reflected the wider trend on TOUR, with 36 of the top 40 finishers choosing replaceable spikes over spikeless or tennis-style footwear.
At the Puerto Rico Open, the champion secured his maiden PGA TOUR title wearing FootJoy shoes fitted with Pulsar spikes, while 30 of the top 36 finishers also opted for replaceable spikes.
Beyond the PGA TOUR, the winning trend continued across the global professional game.
On the DP World Tour, the winner of the Joburg Open competed in Nike shoes fitted with Tornado spikes, while the champion at the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational on the PGA TOUR Champions trusted FootJoy Premier shoes fitted with Metal Stinger spikes.
Success extended to the women’s game as well, with the Blue Bay LPGA winner competing in Nike shoes fitted with a mixed setup of Tour Flex Pro and Tornado spikes.
“Across every major professional tour, players continue to choose replaceable spikes because they deliver the traction and stability needed to perform at the highest level,” said Joe Henderson, President of Softspikes. “Seeing nine consecutive PGA TOUR events won by players wearing spikes is another clear reflection of the confidence players have in replaceable traction.”
With victories spanning the PGA TOUR, DP World Tour, PGA TOUR Champions and LPGA Tour this week, replaceable spikes once again demonstrated their continued relevance and performance advantage across the professional game.
Tour players routinely change spikes based on course conditions, but many amateur golfers overlook traction’s impact on consistency and distance. For optimal performance, golfers should replace spikes every 15 rounds.
