Former Pinehurst Resort superintendent brings 15 years of experience to oversee the growing club’s 48 holes of golf

PINEHURST, NC – Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst has named Curtis Proctor — a former superintendent at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club — as its new Director of Golf Course Maintenance, overseeing all 48 holes at the growing club community.

As part of his duties at Pinehurst, Proctor worked on a range of courses through the years, including oversight of No. 1 and The Cradle, among others.  At Pinewild — just a mile down the road —he will lead the agronomy team and elevate course conditions across two championship layouts, a 9-hole Par-3 course, and the Club’s extensive practice facilities, including a 3-hole challenge course.

“There are three exceptional, well-kept courses here, “says Proctor.  “Those long fairways make Gene Hamm’s Magnolia a fantastic Sandhills tournament-style course. Gary Player created something truly special and scenic with The Holly.  And the 9-hole Azalea Course just gets more fun every time you play it.  I’m excited to build on an already strong foundation and make these courses shine even brighter.”

“The 15 years of exceptional experience Curtis brings to Pinewild is more than a promise of improved conditions today, says Chris Card, CEO of Pinewild and Co-CEO of IE Homes, Clubs, and Resorts LLC. “It’s a long-term investment in the future of an already outstanding Club that’s continually evolving.”

Proctor’s hire is part of a growing list of updates and improvements at Pinewild.  The property’s real estate division, Pinewild Builders, recently began clearing the site for Azalea Place, a new 77-home luxury neighborhood. Meanwhile, the Club is in the permitting stages of an $18M Clubhouse renovation.

“It’s an exciting new chapter for Pinewild, with more announcements and updates on the horizon,” says Card.  “With Curtis at the helm, we’re confident that keeping our courses in top condition will remain a key part of this new era for Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst.”

Nestled in the Home of American Golf just one mile from Pinehurst Village, Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst is a gated, residential club community featuring 48 holes of golf, including the Magnolia by Gene Hamm, the Holly by Gary Player, and the Azalea Par-3 course. Members enjoy an extensive practice facility, racquet courts, a pool, lake access, and a 12,800-sq-ft clubhouse. In October 2023, Pinewild was purchased by IE Homes, Clubs and Resorts, LCC, who plans to grow and elevate the residential and club offerings.  Developments include Azalea Place, a 77-home luxury neighborhood, and an extensive planned $18M clubhouse renovation.
