Poplar Grove Golf Club Debuts October Couples Event
Enjoy Fall Foliage and Breathtaking Views of Blue Ridge Mountains
Poplar Grove Golf Club – Sam Snead’s final course design located in the beautiful rolling hills of southern Virginia – debuts its inaugural October couples event open to members and guests fresh off the club’s newly completed $3 million golf course renovation.
Poplar Grove is thriving this fall following the re-building of all bunkers, teeing grounds and green complexes; updating drainage, clearing trees and remodeling practice areas while adding brand new Titleist practice golf balls. Poplar’s new fleet of 60 E-Z-GO golf carts provide a smooth ride for all guests.
When: Sunday, October 13th
Time: 2:00 p.m. shotgun start
Format: 9-hole captain’s choice, 2 couples (4 people) on each team
Skill Level: All players welcome
Prizes: Winning team, closest to the pin, longest drive, longest putt
Meal: Dinner included feat. grilled chicken, vegetables and other sides
Cost: $32 per player (member rate), $48 per player (public rate)
Registration Deadline: Friday, October 11 at 5 p.m.
Poplar Grove Debuts October Couples Event
Ed Carton, a Virginia native, consulted closely with Sam Snead when designing Poplar Grove and saw the project through to its finish in 2005, three years after “Slammin’ Sammy’s” passing. Poplar Grove, a Golf Digest “Best New Upscale Public Course” in 2005, is returning to its heyday under the close watch of Carton, the man who brought Snead’s blueprint to life.
Located in Amherst, Virginia, Poplar Grove is 20 and 45 minutes from Lynchburg and Charlottesville, respectively. The surrounding Blue Ridge foothills are alive with breweries, distilleries and wineries, constituting the perfect getaway for couples and buddy groups.
