GENESIS OPEN WINNER RETURNS TO TOP 50 WITH VICTORY IN CLEATED FOOTWEAR
The winner of the PGA Tour’s Genesis Open returned to the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking after rallying from a final round four-stroke deficit to the world’s number four player. Like the majority of the field, he was wearing footwear featuring replaceable cleat technology at Riviera Country Club.
“The Genesis Open was quite a marathon due to the weather and long rounds,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports. “Being on your feet for that amount of time makes the top players really take into account the type of footwear they are wearing. Once again, the choice made by most of the players – including those at the top of the leaderboard – was to utilize shoes with cleats.”
In addition to the winner, 25 of the top 28 finishers chose replaceable cleat technology over spikeless/athletic shoes at the Genesis Open.
PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP® and Softspikes® brands. CHAMP’s Helix, Zarma Tour and Stinger cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix, Pulsar, Silver Tornado and Stealth cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales.
